HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team opened a three-game Gulf South Conference series at Charger Park against Shorter with a 12-0 victory in five innings on Friday evening. UAH improves to 31-12 (16-6 GSC), while SU slides to 2-40 (1-24 GSC).

The Chargers opened up the contest with a four-run rally in the bottom of the first – kicked off by
Sadie Thompson's 12th homer in 2024 – as UAH would not look back in the 12-0 win on Friday.

Josie Thompson was stellar in the circle for the Blue & White, tossing 4.0 innings with just four hits allowed and seven strikeouts. She improves to 11-5 this season with the win.

Sadie Thompson ended the contest with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate with a team-high four runs and three RBI.
Kaylee Vaught rated second on the day with three base hits – including a team-high two doubles – to go along with one run and two RBI.

Alexa Douthitt,
Jessica Edde, and
Lawren Hayes also had multi-hit performances with two base knocks apiece, with one of Hayes' hits going for a triple.

This was UAH's 12th consecutive win at Charger Park this year, as the squad is still the lone unbeaten team at home this year in the GSC. The Chargers have scored 10 or more runs in a game on 12 occasions this year.

UAH and Shorter wrap up the three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
