HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team won a pair of Gulf South Conference games on Senior Day against Union on Saturday afternoon, taking game one 17-16 and game two 12-6. The Chargers improved to 25-22 (12-18 GSC), while the Bulldogs fell to 17-29 (11-19 GSC).
The wins marked the fifth and sixth consecutive victories for UAH and their longest win streak of the season to end the year.Â
G1: UAH 17, UU 16 (F/10)
The first game of Saturday's doubleheader included 33 runs combined with Union compiling 20 hits, while UAH had 16. The Chargers were out to a 7-1 lead early in the game, but Union was able to climb their way back into the contest to send the game into extra innings at 9-9.
The Bulldogs would jump out in front with seven runs in the top of the 10th inning, but the Chargers battled back culminating in a
Caleb Mahan RBI single to left field for a walk-off victory in the bottom half of the 10th.Â
At the plate, nine UAH batters recorded hits, with
Carson Villalta,
Will Noles,
Presley Walker,
Hugh Windle, and
Brock Butler each recording multi-hit games. Butler led the team in RBI with five, including a two-run homer.Â
Jacob Peters got the start for UAH and pitched 4.2 innings and was relieved by
Carson Herring, who pitched 3 innings in relief and struck out four.
Aubry Cleghorn recorded the win for UAH on the mound in one-third of an inning.Â
G2: UAH 12, UU 4
UAH fell behind in the top of the first 3-0, but would not let the Bulldogs hold onto a lead for very long in game two, scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning and never letting go of the lead, adding eight more throughout the game.Â
Nine UAH batters once again recorded hits in the game, with
Hunter Tillman leading the way with three doubles for the game.
Merik Carter,
Colin Baeder, and Villalta each recorded doubles. Villalta also knocked a home run in his final game at Charger Park.Â
On the mound, eight seniors made appearances with
Trey Wright getting the start.
Justin Perreault notched his first win of the season as he pitched one and one-third inning.Â

Tanner Giles each made their final appearances on the mound as Chargers in the victory.
