HUNTSVILLE – The UAH volleyball team is poised to begin their 2024 campaign this upcoming weekend as they travel to the Ray Thrasher Classic in Nashville, Tenn. for a trio of matches against Anderson (SC), Southwest Oklahoma State, and Davenport, with the first being a 2 pm match on Friday against Anderson.

The Gulf South Conference continues its partnership with FloSports in the 2024 season, with all UAH home games and road GSC contests (including the Ray Thrasher Classic) being exclusively streamed on FloVolleyball.

The Chargers return to the court after making their first Gulf South Conference Championship match since 1996 last season as they posted an 18-10 (13-3 GSC) record and earned the second seed in the GSC Tournament. The Blue & White had a perfect 11-0 record at home last season and currently hold a 14 match win streak in Spragins Hall.
UAH returns seven players who played in 90 or more sets last season including All-GSC performers
Autumn Mayes and
Savannah Rutledge. The outside hitting duo of
Caroline Moyer and
Zoe Smith combined for 535 kills last season, with Moyer posting the second highest point total (312.5 points) for UAH behind Mayes's 351 points.
Defensive specialist
Tatiana Bonilla makes her return after leading the Chargers in digs for the 2023 season and the sixth highest digs per set total in school history (4.09 digs per set).
Mary Grace Bundrant enters her sophomore season after earning D2CCA honors at the middle blocker position with a 1.17 blocks per set average in 2023, the eighth highest in Charger history.
Early season competition will test the Chargers as their first opponent, Anderson, is receiving votes for the top 25 in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Preseason Division II Coaches Poll. The Chargers defeated Anderson in last season's UAH Invitational in five sets as the Trojans went on to a 28-6 season, falling in the NCAA National Quarterfinals.
Following this weekend's action, the Blue & White will host the UAH Invitational presented by the Huntsville Sports Commission which will be played from the 12th-14th in which they face off with Tusculum, Harding, No. 18 Ferris State, and Emmanuel (GA).
