Men's Soccer Shuts Out Eckerd for First Victory of 2024

Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | The UAH men's soccer team wrapped up their road trip by taking down Eckers 4-0 on Sunday in nonconference action. The Chargers are now 1-1-0 on the season, while the Tritons fell to 0-2-0.  

The Chargers struck first with a goal in the 19th minute off the foot of Oli Orzechowski to take the early lead, as UAH did not let up in the second half with three more goals to cruise to the 4-0 victory on Sunday. Kieran Rowe additionally picked up an assist on the Orzechowski goal.

UAH padded its lead in the second half with goals by Xavier Martin in the 67 minute, Stellios Starakis in the 68th minute and Millie Eriksson in the 73rd minute. The Chargers defense held strong limiting the Tritons to zero goals over eight total corner kicks and six shots on goal.
 
Sonny Wright got the start in the net for UAH, picking up his first collegiate shut out and victory. The sophomore totaled six saves through 90 minutes of play.
 
UAH notched 11 shots, with eight being on target. Orzechowski led the way with two shots on goal in addition to his tally in the 19th minute.

The Chargers host Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Charger Park for their home opener. Admission to all regular season UAH men's soccer games is free, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.
