No. 4 Men's Basketball Fends Off Flames to Win 19th Consecutive Game

HUNTSVILLE | The No. 4 UAH men's basketball team won their 19th consecutive game on Thursday evening as they narrowly defeated Lee at Kelly Court in Spragins Hall 71-68 to remain unbeaten in Gulf South Conference play and became the first team in the conference to clinch a berth to the Truist GSC Championship. 

The Chargers improved to 19-1 (14-0 GSC) with the victory as the Flames fell to 8-10 (4-10 GSC).

Luke Burnett led the way for UAH in scoring with 15 points and hauled in four rebounds. Tommy Murr put up 12 points to mark his 27th consecutive game in double-digits.

Matt Thurman hit clutch three pointers down the stretch and finished with 12 points, going 4-for-9 from behind the arc to account for all of his scoring on Thursday. 

Daniel Saylor recorded his ninth double-double of the season and has had a double-double in each of UAH's last three games. The Pleasant View, Tennessee, native also recorded two blocks and has notched at least one block in each of the last seven games.

The Chargers held a narrow lead in rebounding with a 39-to-36 margin in the category and a 12-to-9 assist advantage.

UAH is back in action on Saturday as they host Trevecca Nazarene at 4 p.m. at Kelly Court in Spragins Hall.
