PENSACOLA, Fla. | No. 3 seed UAH stormed back for a reverse sweep victory on Friday night, rallying from an 0–2 deficit to defeat No. 7 seed Christian Brothers 3–2 (24–26, 21–25, 25–23, 25–18, 15–11) in the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Volleyball Championship.
After dropping the first two sets, the Chargers flipped the momentum with a tight 25–23 win in the third and never looked back, hitting .293 in the fourth and .304 in the decisive fifth to complete the comeback.
Zoe Smith led UAH with 16 kills, followed by Caroline Moyer with 14 and Kayla Ward with 12. Ward and Mary Grace Bundrant anchored a dominant UAH blocking effort, combining for 15 total blocks.
At the net and in transition, UAH's setting drove the offense with 28 assists from Garrett and 26 from Anna Clare Hutto. The Chargers also showed their defensive grit, led by Sydney Durban's 23 digs, while Hutto and Garrett both recorded 17 digs.
Christian Brothers was paced by Ella Schumacher's 20 kills, but UAH's late-match efficiency proved decisive as the Chargers out-hit the Bucs .221 to .165 overall.
