PENSACOLA, Fla. | The No. 8 UAH men's basketball team took to the road to open up Gulf South Conference play against West Florida on Thursday evening and defeated the Argos 87-80.
The Chargers improved to 6-1 (1-0 GSC), while the Argos are now 6-2 (0-1 GSC).
UAH battled early with UWF, but used a 42.9 percent mark from behind the arc to propel them to a 43-30 lead at the half. The Chargers never trailed in the game, with their largest lead reaching 16 points.
Six different Chargers scored in double figures on the night, as
Quentin Toles led the way with 22 points on 7-of-19 shooting and a 4-for-9 mark from three.
Knute Wood and
Rayven Turner each totaled 14 points as Wood had three assists and Turner totaled eight rebounds, a steal, and a block.
Griffin Cooper and
Jordan Mabe rounded out the Chargers in double digits with 12 points each.
UAH out-rebounded the Argos 44-to-38 and held a 34-to-13 advantage in points from the bench.
Up next for the Chargers is a matchup with Valdosta State on Saturday in Valdosta, Georgia at 3 p.m.
