TRUSSVILLE, Ala. | The UAH softball team came away with a doubleheader split in nonconference action against Columbus State on Wednesday as the Chargers fell 10-0 in game one before topping the Cougars 2-0 in game two. UAH's overall record stands at 14-12, while CSU moves to 20-7.

Game one: CSU 10, UAH 0
After taking a 3-0 lead in the third, the Columbus State bats came alive late in the game with two runs in the sixth and five runs in the seventh to win the opener 10-0 on Wednesday.

The Chargers recorded five hits as a team, with
Lawren Hayes,
Maddie Cartron,
Jada Henderson,
Sadie Thompson and
Katie Bracken chipping in one hit apiece.

UAH stole three bases as a team, including swipes by
Gracie Ashley, Hayes, and Henderson.

Katie Bracken started in the circle for the Chargers, turning in 5.1 innings with one earned run allowed and 12 strikeouts.

Game two: UAH 2, CSU 0
The Chargers went ahead with one run in the first inning on an RBI double by Henderson, and that was all the support
Megan Shurtz needed in the circle as she worked 7.0 shutout innings with five hits allowed, one walk and five strikeouts.

This was Shurtz sixth complete-game outing of the 2025 season, as she now leads the Chargers with 75.1 innings pitched in her junior campaign.

Henderson additionally scored on an error in the sixth inning to give an insurance run for Shurtz in the final two innings. She went 2-for-4 with two doubles in the contest to lead UAH's offense.

Brittany Slaten also had a strong offensive performance for the Chargers, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases. She is now 21-for-22 on stolen base attempts in her first season at UAH.
