JACKSON, Tenn. | The sixth-seeded UAH women's basketball team is set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Division II South Region Women's Basketball Championships with a first-round matchup against third-seeded Nova Southeastern on Friday at 12 p.m. on the campus of top seed Union University.

The Chargers earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Division II tournament after going 25-6 overall so far in 2024-25 that includes an 18-4 mark in Gulf South Conference play in the regular season. UAH reached the GSC tournament championship game this past Sunday, falling to Union in the program's third all-time appearance in the league's championship.

This is the UAH women's basketball program's fourth all-time berth to the regional and the first since the 2019-20 season. UAH will be playing in its first NCAA tournament game since 2013, as the 2020 tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Allen Sharpe has made an impressive turnaround for the UAH women's basketball team, as the Chargers did not make the GSC tournament a year ago. His squad also boasts the most NCAA wins in program history in addition to the most GSC wins in team history.

Sharpe's squad is guided by GSC Player of the Year
Lili Wilken, who leads the Chargers with a team-high 17.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. She enters in the NCAA tournament ranked second in the GSC in scoring average and seventh in rebounding average.

UAH's offense averages 72.2 points per game this season, which is the second most amongst GSC programs. The Chargers offense features four players averaging 8.0 points or more, including Wilken (17.5),
Alexis Woods (10.7),
Millie Brown (9.0) and
Haley Nichols (8.0).

The Chargers are also second in the conference with 58.3 points allowed per game while leading the GSC with 41.1 rebounds per game.

Nova Southeastern - the No. 18 ranked team nationally -Â comes into the NCAA Division II South Region Championships with a 25-6 overall record that includes a 16-4 mark in Sunshine State Conference play. NSU reached the SSC tournament final, falling 55-51 to Embry-Riddle on Sunday. The Sharks average 70.3 points per game, led by Aubrey Stupp at a scoring average of 14.4.

UAH holds an all-time series record of 0-3 against Nova Southeastern, as the two teams meet for the first time in NCAA postseason history. The Chargers and Sharks last matched up in the regular season in 2018.

Overall, UAH is 1-2 when playing in the NCAA South Region Championships.

The winner of Friday's game moves on to the NCAA South Regional semifinals on Saturday at 5 p.m. against the winner of No. 7 seed West Florida and No. 2 seed Embry-Riddle.
