FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. | The No. 3 UAH men's basketball team opened play at the 2025 NCAA Division II South Region Men's Basketball Championships with a 99-88 win over seventh-seeded Tampa on Saturday at Rick Case Arena on the campus of Nova Southeastern University. UAH improves to 31-1, while UT ends its season at 20-11.

UAH's 31st consecutive victory advances the Chargers to the South Regional semifinals with a matchup against third-seeded Florida Southern on Sunday at 4 p.m. CT.

Senior
Blake Campbell scored a game-high 30 points in the victory, as he went 9-for-12 from the field and 10-of-12 on free throws across 33 minutes on the floor. He has now scored 30 or more points on three occasions in the 2024-25 campaign.

Tommy Murr registered a double-double with 23 points and a team-high 10 assists, which is his second double-double this season with points and assists.

Daniel Saylor also registered a double-double against the Spartans, with the senior putting up 15 points and a roster-best 12 rebounds.
Matt Thurman gave the Chargers four players in double-digit scoring with 16 points to rate third on the squad on Saturday.

The Chargers offense picked up its pace towards the end of the first half with a 14-5 run over the last 4:26 which stretched the lead to 48-32 after 20 minutes of action. UAH shot 59.4 percent (19-32) in the opening half and 37.5 percent (6-16) on three pointers to help the squad take a 16-point lead into the halftime break.

The Chargers went on to win it 99-88, despite Tampa outscoring UAH 56-51 in the second half.

UAH is amidst the program's 17th all-time appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament.
