HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team fell in Sunday's Gulf South Conference series finale to visiting Valdosta State by a final score of 3-2 in eight innings at Charger Park. UAH slides to 11-10 (5-4 GSC), while VSU improves to 8-11 (4-4 GSC).

After UAH tied the game 2-2 with one run in the bottom of the third, both teams went scoreless into extra innings when Valdosta State pulled ahead with one run in the eighth on the way to the Blazers 3-2 win on Sunday.

Maddie Cartron highlighted the Chargers offense, going 2-for-3 with a walk and driving in both of UAH's runs in the contest. She raises her average to a team-high .435 with her ninth multi-hit performance of the season.

Lawren Hayes tied with Cartron for a team-best two hits, while also scoring both of the Chargers runs and drawing one walk. Hayes additionally recorded one steal in the setback.

Lydia West started in the circle for the Chargers, turning in a strong 7.0 innings with three runs allowed and four strikeouts. Her record falls to 1-1 with the loss.

The Chargers are back in action on Friday and Saturday on the road with a three-game GSC series at Montevallo.
