Box Score 2 MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The UAH softball team took both games of a doubleheader at Montevallo by scores of 8-2 and 9-1 on Friday afternoon to open a three-game Gulf South Conference series. UAH improves to 13-10 (7-4 GSC), while UM slides to 9-15 (3-8 GSC).

The Chargers and Falcons wrap up the three-game set on Saturday at noon with the series finale.

Game one: UAH 8, UM 2
UAH never trailed in the series-opener at Montevallo, as the Chargers afternoon was highlighted by a five-run rally in the top of the third that carried the Blue & White to an 8-2 win.

Alexa Douthitt highlighted the Chargers at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance that included a double and a home run. She hit a three-run homer in the third-inning rally for her second round-tripper of the season.

Megan Shurtz went the distance in the circle, as she worked the full 7.0 innings with two runs allowed and four strikeouts. Her record improves to 7-5 with the win.

Game two: UAH 9, UM 1
The Chargers started off with a six-run rally in the top of the first inning and never looked back in a 7-0 victory to seal the doubleheader sweep in game two on Friday.

Jill Cockrell highlighted the first-inning rally with a two-RBI single, while
Jada Henderson hit a solo homer in the frame for her second round-tripper of the year.

Cockrell and Henderson ended the day with a team-high two RBI apiece, while nine different Chargers plated a run in the win.

Douthitt led the Blue & White with two base hits to go 4-for-7 in the doubleheader.

Katie Bracken worked the full 7.0 innings in the night cap, while allowing only one run with six strikeouts.
