HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team split a Sunday doubleheader against Auburn Montgomery at Charger Park on Saturday afternoon as they clinched a series win in a 4-1 game one win and dropped game two 11-3.
The Chargers moved to 14-14 (7-11 GSC) on the year, while AUM is now 8-22 (5-13 GSC) for the season.
UAH gets back in action on Wednesday in a midweek game in Atlanta against Morehouse at 1 p.m.
G1: UAH 4, AUM 1
In game one, UAH fell behind early as the Warhawks scored on a home run in the first inning. Starting pitcher
Colin Patterson proceeded to hold AUM to zero hits over the course of the following four innings as the sophomore went seven complete innings on the mound with eight strikeouts.
The Charger scoring was kicked off in the fourth inning when
Sean Lapinskes and
Presley Walker hit back-to-back solo homers.
Brock Butler and
JC Wilburn contributed the other RBI in the second game for UAH.
Walker had the only multi-hit performance in game one for the Blue & White, but six different Chargers had hits in the game.
G2: AUM 11, UAH 3
The second game of the doubleheader was back-and-forth in the early going as there were three lead changes in the first three innings, but AUM claimed the lead with three runs in the fourth and never looked back.
Walker and Wilburn led the way for the Chargers with two hits apiece, with Wilburn,
Will Noles, and
Taylor Bush providing the team's three RBI.
On the hill,
Nick Compton got the start and pitched 3.1 innings with three strikeouts, ultimately being credited the loss in the game.
