MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The UAH softball team dropped Saturday's Gulf South Conference series finale at Montevallo by a final score of 3-2 on the road. UAH slides to 13-11 (7-5 GSC), while UM improves to 10-15 (4-8 GSC).
 
Montevallo plated two runs in the bottom of the first, as the Falcons did not relinquish their lead on the way to winning the series finale 3-2 over the Chargers on Saturday.
 
Lydia West hit her first career homer as a Charger with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth that cut the hosts lead to 3-2. 
Lawren Hayes also notched an extra-base hit in the matchup with her second triple of the season in the top of the seventh.
 
Brittany Slaten registered the lone multi-hit performance for the Chargers, going 2-for-4 on the day. 
Jada Henderson also reached base twice with a walk and a hit.
 
The Chargers also stole a season-high seven bases as a team, with Slaten and 
Sadie Thompson both swiping two bags.
 
Megan Shurtz started in the circle for the Chargers, turning in 4.0 innings with two earned runs allowed, zero walks and three strikeouts. Her record slips to 7-6 with the loss.
 
UAH is back in action on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Trussville, Alabama, against Columbus State in a neutral-site, nonconference matchup.
