HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team opened a three-game Gulf South Conference series with Mississippi College at Charger Park with a 9-0 win in five innings followed by an 8-0 loss in five innings in Friday afternoon's doubleheader. UAH's record now stands at 23-18 (15-10 GSC), while MC moves to 30-12 (18-8 GSC).

Game one: UAH 9, MC 0 (5 innings)
The Chargers broke through the scoreless tie with a nine-run rally in the bottom of the fourth inning, which was kick-started by a three-run homer by
Jill Cockrell, to lead UAH to the 9-0 win over Mississippi College to open the GSC series.

Junior
Katie Bracken was stellar in the circle for the Blue & White, tossing a one-hitter with six strikeouts and zero walks over 5.0 innings. Her record rises to 11-7 with the win.

UAH recorded 10 base hits as a team, including four extra-base hits. Both of Cockrell's hits went for extra bases in addition to her team-high three RBI, as she also hit a triple in the bottom of the second inning in addition to her first career homer in the fourth.

Sadie Thompson and
Jada Henderson each had two-hit performances as well, with Thompson recording two RBI and one triple on the day.
Maddie Cartron tied with Thompson for second on the roster with two RBI in a 1-for-3 game at the plate.

Game two: MC 8, UAH 0 (5 innings)
Mississippi College powered its way to an 8-0 win to take game two over UAH, as the Choctaws posted two, four-run rallies with all of their runs coming off home runs.

Bracken started in the circle again for the Chargers, turning in 1.2 innings with four runs allowed and one strikeout. Her record slips to 11-8 with the loss.
