HUNTSVILLE | The third-seeded UAH women's lacrosse team opens play at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championships at John Hunt Park on Friday at 2 p.m. against second-seeded Lander.

UAH enters the GSC tournament with a 7-10 overall record and a 2-2 mark in GSC play in the regular season, as the Chargers wrapped up the regular season last Thursday with a 13-12 setback to Lander.

The Chargers will be competing in their eighth GSC tournament, as UAH has been in the championship game in seven of those eight seasons. UAH last won the GSC Women's Lacrosse Championship in the 2022 season, which was the program's third conference title.

Junior
Sarah Cole has been UAH's overall leader in the 2025 campaign, boasting a team-high 48 goals, 25 caused turnovers, and 58 draw controls. Cole was named the GSC Midfielder of the Year for her performance this season.

Ella Rutherford has had an outstanding first collegiate season, ranking second on the team with 50 points from 28 goals and 22 assists. She also leads the Chargers with 36 ground balls and is second on the roster with 33 draw controls.

Isabelle Sawicki has been the Chargers primary goalie this season, as she's appeared in 16 games with 11 starts. Sawicki enters the postseason with an 11.43 goals against average and 70 total saves.

Lander comes into the GSC tournament matchup with a 12-3 overall record and a 3-1 mark in GSC play in the regular season. The Bearcats average 12.3 goals per game this season, guided by Brooke Kelly with 43 goals.

The winner of Friday's matchup moves on to play in the 2025 GSC Women's Lacrosse Championship game on Sunday at noon against the winner of No. 1 seed Flagler and No. 4 seed Lee.
