Softball Splits Senior Day Doubleheader with West Alabama to Wrap Regular Season

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team wrapped up the 2025 regular season with a doubleheader split on Senior Day at Charger Park against West Alabama with a 7-6 loss followed by a 6-2 win on Saturday in Gulf South Conference action. UAH's overall record is now 27-20 (19-12 GSC), while UWA moves to 30-17 (19-13 GSC).
 
UAH looks ahead to the start of the 2025 GSC Softball Championships in Oxford, Alabama, on Wednesday. Full seeding information for the GSC tournament will be available following the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday.
 
Game one: UWA 7, UAH 6
Both teams plated at least one run in four of the seven innings of the first game on Saturday, as West Alabama scored a key insurance run in the top of the fifth that helped the visitors to the 7-6 win.
 
Maddie Cartron drove in a UAH team-high two runs while going 1-for-3 in the contest. Cartron put the Chargers on the board in the first with a RBI double off the left field wall.
 
Kinley Adams, Brittany Slaten and Sadie Thompson each had two base hits in the setback, with both Adams and Thompson registering triples as one of their two hits.
 
Katie Bracken tossed the full 7.0 innings from the circle for the Chargers, as she was tagged for five earned runs while posting eight strikeouts. Her record slides to 12-10 with the loss.
 
Game two: UAH 6, UWA 2
The Chargers started the contest with a four-run bottom of the first inning, as UAH carried an advantage for the rest of the regular season finale for a 6-2 win over the Tigers.
 
Alexa Douthitt and Kylee Smith highlighted the Chargers offense with two base hits and one RBI apiece, with Douthitt connecting on a double as one of her hits.
 
Jill Cockrell gave the Chargers two extra base hits in the win, as she notched a triple in her lone hit of the day.
 
Megan Shurtz had a stellar complete-game performance in the circle, working the full 7.0 innings with two runs allowed and five strikeouts. Her record rises to 13-8 with the win.
