OXFORD, Ala. | The fourth-seeded UAH softball team won 5-0 to start play at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Softball Championships over fifth-seeded Valdosta State on Wednesday afternoon at Choccolocco Park. UAH improves to 28-20, while VSU slides to 26-24.

The Chargers look ahead to a matchup with the winner of No. 1 seed AUM and No. 8 seed Trevecca on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Choccolocco Park.
 
After two scoreless innings to start Wednesday's GSC tournament opener, UAH went on to plate five unanswered runs between the third and fifth innings that propelled the Chargers to the 5-0 win.
 
Decatur, Alabama, native 
Katie Bracken was stellar in the circle for the Chargers, tossing a one-hitter over the full 7.0 shutout innings with six strikeouts. Her record rises to 13-10 with the win.
 
Lawren Hayes – who also hails from Decatur – guided the Chargers offense out of the lead-off spot with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate with a team-high two RBI. Hayes put UAH on the board in the third inning with an RBI single, before putting up a two-run double in the fourth inning.
 
Jada Henderson went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI, as she made it a two-run third inning for the Chargers with an RBI single.
 
Kinley Adams also had a multi-hit performance on Wednesday, going 2-for-3 with a team-high two runs scored.
 
Overall, UAH recorded 11 base hits against Valdosta State in the GSC tournament matchup. The Chargers have now defeated the Blazers in back-to-back GSC tournament games.
 
UAH is amidst the program's 29th all-time appearance in the GSC tournament.
