HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball team is set to host two Gulf South Conference opponents over the weekend as they host Lee on Friday evening at 6 p.m. and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall. The Chargers (8-2, 0-1 GSC) are coming off of loss on the road to Mississippi College on Tuesday evening and are looking to get into the win column in conference play.
UAH ranks second in the GSC in attack percentage as a team with a .222 percentage in the category, while also ranking second in blocks per set with 2.18 rejections per set. The Chargers swept last week's GSC Player of the Week awards as
Caroline Moyer earned her second GSC Offensive Player of the Week of the season, while defensive specialist
Sydney Durban earned GSC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. Setter
Cooper Garrett was named GSC Freshman of the Week.
Moyer leads the GSC in kills this season as she has totaled 160 for a 4.10 kills per set average with the second highest total in the conference being 3.66 kills per set.
Lee visits UAH with a 5-4 record overall and a 1-0 GSC record as they defeated Christian Brothers in five sets in their last match. Lee ranks at the top of the league in opponent hitting percentage, holding their opponents to a .145 attack percentage through 39 sets this season.
Trevecca Nazarene enters the weekend currently sitting at 7-3 overall and 1-0 in GSC play after sweeping Union to open league play. TNU ranks third in the conference in kills and blocks, as they have put up a 13.03 kills per set average and a 2.06 blocks per set average to begin the year.
Following the weekend at home, UAH hits the road to face off with West Alabama on Tuesday, September 30 at 6 p.m.
