FLORENCE, Ala. | The UAH men's and women's cross country teams competed in their first action of the 2025 season as they traveled to the UNA Invitational in Florence, Alabama, on Friday morning. The women placed second out of 13 teams, while the men took third overall in a group of 14 teams.
The women's cross country team placed all seven of their scoring runners within the top 22. The Chargers were led by
Catherine Truemper as their top runner in sixth place overall (18:41.9). She was followed by teammates
Tamsyn Gibbs in seventh (18:46.2) and
Sarah Hertz in ninth (18:51.4). Their scoring was solidified by
Lexi Hinote in 14th (19:01.1) and
Autumn Betts in 16th (19:12.3).
On the men's side, the Chargers were led by freshman
Evan Christopher, who finished fourth overall in the men's 8k with a time of 25:29.8. The Chargers' top seven was rounded out by a tight pack of scorers, as
Adam Taylor secured 17th place (25:58.2), followed by
Shepp Collier in (21st, 26:09.5),
Jackson Griggs (26th, 26:18.2),
Cannon Peters (33rd, 26:39.2),
Daniel Gill (34th, 26:40.2), and Caleb DeHart (37th, 26:44.5) completed the scoring contingent.
The Chargers get back in action next weekend as they race in Huntsville at the Southern Showcase.
