FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. | The UAH softball team split a doubleheader on Saturday at the NSU Softball Field, opening the day with an 8-6 victory over Barry before falling 9-1 to Nova Southeastern in the second game.

The Chargers got on the board in the first inning when Alexa Douthitt grounded out to drive in Brittany Slaten. Barry responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, but UAH chipped away and took the lead for good in the fourth, scoring two runs on a two-RBI single from Slaten to make it 6-3.

Barry pulled even in the bottom of the fourth with two home runs, but UAH responded immediately. Kylie Ballentine scored on a wild pitch in the fifth, and Mia Brown added an RBI single in the sixth to extend the lead to 8-6.
