MONTEVALLO – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team held a 16-15 advantage in shots Wednesday evening but fell 3-0 to Montevallo in Gulf South Conference action at Varsity Field.
The Chargers generated 10 shots in the second half and placed six shots on goal for the match. Michella Tortelli led UAH offensively with five attempts, including an effort that struck the post in the 58th minute.
Campbell Tarentino added two shots, both on goal, while Carley White also recorded a pair of attempts. Tuva Lundstroem nearly put the Chargers on the board in the final minute, striking the crossbar.
Montevallo scored twice in the opening half before adding its final goal in the 88th minute. CeCe Szopa and Kacey Powell split time in goal for UAH, recording one save apiece.
UAH returns to Charger Park on Saturday, Oct. 10, to host Christian Brothers in GSC action at 1 p.m.
