Chargers Split Weekend Slate

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) men's lacrosse team split a pair of weekend contests, falling 21-8 to Concordia University Irvine on Friday in Knoxville, Tenn. before rebounding with a 16-9 victory over Dominican University of California on Sunday at John Hunt Park.

With the weekend results, the Chargers move to 2-3 on the season. CUI improves to 1-1, while Dominican falls to 0-3.
 

Friday vs. Concordia University Irvine
The Eagles used a six-goal first quarter and an 11-goal third period to pull away for the 21-8 win. Eight different Chargers scored in the contest, including Chris Aiello, Carter Henninger, Zach Hulbert, Makai Hillmon, Jackson Land, Logan Pinkerton, Gerrit Robbins, and Aydan Weiszhar.

UAH finished with 25 shots (14 on goal), 32 ground balls and went 25-of-32 on clears. hree goalkeepers combined for 11 saves, led by Jake Sander's 7.


Sunday vs. Dominican University of California
UAH opened the first quarter with four goals to Dominican's three. The Chargers maintained control through the second half, outscoring the Penguins 10-3 in the final two periods to secure the victory.

Aydan Weiszhar led the UAH offense with five goals, while Jake Bertils, Chris Aiello and Jake Hughes each added two. Brenden Thomas, Carson Kingsbury, Carter Henninger, Harrison Skinner, and Palmer Mood each found the back of the net.

The Chargers dominated the stat sheet, recording 43 ground balls and winning 18 of 22 clears. UAH took 52 shots, 26 on goal, generating 16 goals. Goaltender Jake Sander made seven saves to help secure the win.


Next up for the Blue and White is a Saturday matchup against Maryville on February 21 at 12 p.m. in St. Louis, Missouri.
