HUNTSVILLE | The No. 24 UAH women's lacrosse team defeated the University of Virginia at Wise on Sunday in non-conference action at John Hunt Park in Huntsville by a score of 13-7.
The Chargers improved to 3-3 on the year, while UVA-Wise is now 4-1.
The Blue & White led wire-to-wire once the first goal was scored by
Ella Rutherford at the 12:44 mark of the first quarter, with the lead stretching to as large as eight goals at 13-5 in the fourth quarter.
UAH was led offensively by Rutherford who totaled five points with three goals and two assists.
Meghan Doody contributed four goals to the winning cause, while
Maya Bronson added four points with one goal and three assists.
Olivia Rewers led the Charger defense with five ground balls and two caused turnovers in the match as she also added three draw controls and three points (one goal, two assists).
Sarah Cole was active on the draw control as well with six draws going her way.
The Chargers are back in action on Friday, February 27th at Charger Park against No. 12 Saint Leo.
