UAH enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed after capturing the program's Gulf South Conference regular-season title and will face No. 8 seed West Alabama for the third time this season. The Chargers won both regular-season meetings against the Tigers.

UAH earned a 71-62 victory in Livingston on Jan. 27, led by Lili Wilken's 29 points, despite shooting just 5-of-17 (29.4 percent) from three-point range.

The teams met again in Huntsville on Feb. 27, when the Chargers controlled the game from start to finish in an 83-67 senior night victory. Wilken paced UAH with 32 points, while Bella White and Ivey Maddox combined for 31 points. Millie Brown added 11 points, including a 3-for-5 performance from beyond the arc.

Monday's contest will mark the 81st meeting between the programs. The all-time series is tied 40-40, following UAH's win in the regular-season finale. The matchup will move West Alabama alongside North Alabama as the opponent UAH has faced the most in program history.

UAH and West Alabama have met twice previously in the Gulf South Conference Tournament, splitting a pair of contests during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.

Since the Gulf South Conference began hosting opening-round games on campus sites in 2015, UAH holds a 2-0 record inside Spragins Hall in tournament play.

The 2026 championship marks the first season the higher seed will host throughout the entire Gulf South Conference Tournament. As the regular-season champions, the Chargers will host all of their tournament games at SportsMED Arena inside Spragins Hall if they advance.

Following Monday's matchup the winner will take on the winner of a matchup between fourth-seed Trevecca and fifth-seed Lee on Thursday evening. The highest seed will host the semifinal matchup on Thursday.
