HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Women's Basketball defeated West Alabama for the third time this season on Monday night at SportsMED Arena, advancing to the Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Championship semifinals.
With the victory, the Chargers improve to 27-3 overall, tying the program's single-season wins record originally set by the 1982-83 team. The win also keeps UAH perfect at home this season, moving to 16-0 inside Spragins Hall.
UAH placed five players in double figures, led by Lili Wilken, who continued her standout season with 26 points and eight rebounds. Wilken scored 15 points in the first half as the Chargers established control early.
Bella White added 15 points, while Paris Opelt contributed 13. Millie Brown finished with 11 points, and Ivey Maddox chipped in 10 to round out the balanced offensive effort.
As a team, the Chargers were efficient from beyond the arc, finishing 11-of-22 (50 percent) from three-point range against the Gulf South Conference's top-ranked three-point defense. Defensively, UAH limited West Alabama to 1-of-9 shooting from long distance.
The Chargers will return to action on Thursday night when they host Trevecca in the GSC Championship semifinals. UAH won both regular-season meetings against the Trojans. Tipoff time is still to be determined.
