HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Women's Basketball advanced to the Gulf South Conference Championship Finals on Thursday night with an 80-61 victory over Trevecca Nazarene in the GSC Semifinals at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 28-4 overall, setting a new program record for wins in a single season and surpassing the previous mark of 27 set by the 1982-83 team. The victory also marks UAH's 10th consecutive win, the Chargers' 27th win in their last 28 games, and keeps them perfect at home this season at 17-0.
UAH was led by the GSC Player of the Year Lili Wilken, who recorded a near triple-double performance with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
The Chargers received a huge boost from Chloe Siegel, who was flawless from beyond the arc. Siegel went 5-for-5 from three-point range and finished with 15 points.
Paris Opelt also played a key role on both ends of the floor. Opelt scored 13 points and delivered two pivotal defensive plays, drawing a pair of crucial charging fouls that helped UAH take firm control of the game.
Bella White and Ivey Maddox rounded out the balanced scoring effort with 10 points each. Both players were highly efficient offensively, shooting 4-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 from three-point range.
As a team, the Chargers shot 13-of-23 from three-point range (56.5 percent) while holding Trevecca to 7-of-22 shooting from beyond the arc.
UAH will now turn its attention to Sunday afternoon, when the Chargers will face the Union Bulldogs in the Gulf South Conference Championship game for the second consecutive season.
Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall.
