Baseball Completes Road Sweep of AUM, Score 33 in Doubleheader

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Auburn Montgomery on Saturday afternoon, winning both games of a doubleheader to cap a dominant Gulf South Conference weekend.

The Chargers erupted offensively across the twin bill, scoring 33 runs on the day and 41 runs over the three-game series. With the sweep, UAH improves to 12-15 overall and evens its GSC record at 9-9 while extending its winning streak to four games, all on the road.

Game 1: UAH 20 , AUM 9
UAH overcame an early deficit to take control in Game 1 after allowing five runs in the third inning. The Chargers responded emphatically, scoring the next 15 runs to pull away.

UAH plated eight runs across the fourth and fifth innings to seize momentum. In the fourth, Ian Reagan and Braxton Griffin each delivered RBI singles, while Hugh Windle and Seth Staggs added RBI doubles. Gavin Galenza contributed a sacrifice fly, and Jayce Upton capped the inning with a two-run home run.

The fifth inning brought more of the same, with Windle recording both an RBI double and RBI single. Staggs and CJ Carson each added RBI singles to extend the lead.

UAH put the finishing touches on the game in the eighth inning as Carson cleared the bases with a three-RBI double, followed by Taylor Bush's second home run of the season.

Tyler Smith (1-0) earned his first win of the year in relief, tossing 2.2 innings after entering in the third.

Game 2: UAH 13, AUM 11
The Chargers once again showed resilience in Game 2, rallying from a 5-1 deficit after four innings.

Braxton Griffin ignited the comeback with a bases-clearing double in the fifth inning. Ian Reagan followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 5-5.

UAH took the lead in the sixth when Gavin Galenza drove in Hugh Windle. Moments later, Seth Staggs delivered a breakthrough swing, launching his first career home run—a three-run shot—to give the Chargers a 9-5 advantage.

The Chargers added four more runs in the seventh inning behind a sacrifice fly from Jayce Upton, a two-run single by Taylor Bush, and an RBI fielder's choice from Galenza.

Zach Murphy (1-0) secured his first win as a Charger as UAH held on for the 13-11 victory.
