UAH Splits Series with Trevecca After 5-4 Comeback Win

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The UAH softball team split a two-game Gulf South Conference series with Trevecca at Les Stuedeman Field on Thursday, earning a comeback 5-4 win in Game 2 after falling 3-2 in eight innings in the opener.

UAH moves to 31-16 overall and 15-11 in GSC play, while Trevecca stands at 16-14 overall and 12-14 in conference play.

Game One: Trevecca 3, UAH 2 (8 Innings)
UAH struck first in Game 1, taking a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning when Mia Brown delivered a two-run home run to left center, scoring Brittany Slaten. Trevecca responded in the sixth inning, scoring two unearned runs to tie the game at 2-2 after defensive errors extended the frame. The Trojans pushed across the winning run in the eighth inning with an RBI single to seal the 3-2 victory.

Brown paced the Charger offense, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Alexa Douthitt also added a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

Katie Bracken took the loss after pitching eight innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out eight.

Game Two: UAH 5, Trevecca 4
Trevecca jumped out early in Game 2, scoring four runs in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. UAH began its comeback in the fourth when Hannah Temple singled to center field to drive in Alexa Douthitt and cut the deficit to 4-1. The Chargers tied the game in the fifth inning, as Brittany Slaten delivered a two-run single and Douthitt added a sacrifice fly to even the score at 4-4.

In the sixth inning, Kylee Smith delivered a double to center field to score Temple and give UAH a 5-4 lead it would not surrender.

Megan Shurtz earned the win in relief, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits while striking out two.

Offensively, Temple finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, Slaten added two RBIs, and Smith drove in the game-winning run with her sixth-inning double.
