Sisters Cara and Michella Tortelli each scored as the The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer program earned its first victory of the 2026 season with a 4-0 shutout of Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. The Chargers improved to 1-1-0 and outshot the Panthers 16-10, including a 10-5 edge in shots on goal.
Cara Tortelli opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before Erin Turley doubled the advantage in the 35th. Michella Tortelli added a goal in the 44th minute to send the Chargers into halftime with a 3-0 lead, and Addison Knauss capped the scoring in the 54th minute.
The Blue and White scored three first-half goals for the first time since Oct. 5, 2025, and posted their first four-goal match since Sept. 12, 2025. The shutout was UAH's first since Oct. 12, 2025, against Christian Brothers.
CeCe Szopa and Kacey Powell combined for the clean sheet, with Szopa making two saves in the first half and Powell stopping three shots after halftime. Szopa recorded her ninth career clean sheet and 16th career victory, while Powell earned her first career clean sheet.
UAH will hit the road for three consecutive matches before returning to Charger Park on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 5 p.m. against Trevecca to open the home portion of Gulf South Conference play.
