BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Samuel Quickfall represented the UAH men's soccer team as the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping the Chargers open the 2026 season with a pair of victories. The sophomore defender started both matches for the Chargers, playing a full 90 minutes in UAH's 2-1 season-opening victory at Illinois Springfield before scoring a goal in a 6-0 shutout win over Shawnee State.
Quickfall helped anchor the UAH defense in the season opener at Illinois Springfield on Aug. 27, playing all 90 minutes in the Chargers' 2-1 victory. Quickfall and the Chargers limited the Prairie Stars to just eight shots and three shots on goal while holding Illinois Springfield scoreless in the second half.
Quickfall continued his strong start to the season in UAH's 6-0 home-opening victory over Shawnee State on Aug. 30. The defender started and played 62 minutes while helping the Chargers record their first shutout of the season. Quickfall also contributed offensively, scoring UAH's first goal of the match in the seventh minute on his only shot of the game.
Quickfall and the Chargers continue their season on the road at Georgia Southwestern on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m.
