The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team took an early lead Wednesday evening at Charger Park, but a pair of second-half goals lifted Trevecca Nazarene to a 2-1 victory over the Chargers.
UAH (3-3, 1-1 GSC) struck first in the 19th minute when Chelsey Curtis found the back of the net, giving the Chargers a 1-0 advantage they carried into halftime.
Trevecca (3-2-1, 1-1) pulled even in the 69th minute on a goal from Cristina Escudero before Anna Farrell scored the eventual game-winner in the 75th minute off an assist from Kate Nelson.
The Chargers generated four of their six shots in the second half, including attempts on goal from Kaitlyn Lewis and Prescott Hull, but were unable to find the equalizer.
CeCe Szopa finished with five saves in goal for UAH, including three in the opening half. Trevecca held a 14-6 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
With the result, UAH moves to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
The Chargers return to the road Saturday when they travel to face Delta State at 1 p.m.
