CLEVELAND, Miss. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team fell 6-1 to Delta State on Saturday afternoon at Delta Field in Gulf South Conference action.
UAH (3-4, 1-2 GSC) generated 11 shots in the contest, placing five on goal, with Caila Batchelor and Michella Tortelli leading UAH with three attempts apiece. Batchelor put one of her three shots on target.
Cara Tortelli provided the Chargers' goal in the 61st minute, scoring her second goal of the season to get UAH on the board. UAH created several opportunities early in the second half, including shots on goal from RK Naman and Tuva Viktoria Lundstroem.
The Chargers finished with six shots in the opening half and five after halftime while recording two corner kicks. Goalkeeper CeCe Szopa played all 90 minutes and totaled four saves.
UAH will return to Charger Park on Wednesday to host Union in another GSC matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
