Assistant Coach David Ivey David Ivey joined the Charger men's basketball staff in the summer of 2008.
The Chargers have enjoyed immense success since then, posting an overall record of 124-32 while also winning four straight Gulf South Conference regular season titles from 2010-13. With Ivey on the staff, UAH has also won two NCAA South Region championships (2011 and 2012), made an additional appearance in the regional final (2013), and captured the program’s first-ever GSC tournament championship (2012).

Additionally, UAH’s teams have had five All-Americans and three NCAA statistical champions during Ivey’s tenure, and the Chargers enter the 2013-14 season with a streak of 44 consecutive weeks being ranked in the NABC Top 25.
A former player at UAH, Ivey had a solid career for the Chargers playing in 102 games from 2002-06. He was a member of the GSC East Division Championship team in 2003 and made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. In his senior season, the Chargers made it to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history.

Ivey started 29-of-30 games and led the team in assists with 5.2 per game. He was the second leading scorer with 9.8 points per game and second in rebounding with four per game. He finished his career ranked 6th in assists All-Time at UAH.

Ivey is a native of Birmingham and a 2006 graduate of UAH with a degree in Management Information Systems. He is currently working on a masters in Education from the University of West Alabama. He spent the 2006-07 season as the Graduate Assistant at under Coach Acuff.

Prior to his new role as assistant men's basketball coach for UAH, he was the Director of Basketball Operations at Southeastern Louisiana University.
