No. 15 Chargers Venture To Delta State

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Fresh off a 3-0 homestand, the No. 15 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team will return to the road on Thursday as it travels to Cleveland, Miss., to take on Delta State. The Chargers enter the game that is slated to begin at 8 p.m. with a record of 12-3 (3-1 Gulf South Conference), while DSU owns a 4-11 (0-4 GSC) mark.
 
Zane Campbell scored 28 points while going 12-for-15 from the floor to pace the Chargers as the team won its third straight with an 89-73 decision over visiting West Florida. Josh Magette was strong in the contest as well as he scored 22 points while dishing out 10 assists to notch his third consecutive double-double.
 
For the contest, UAH shot over 50 percent for the fourth straight time, registering a field goal percentage of 55.6 while limiting West Florida to shoot just 47.8 percent from the floor.
 
Campbell has been impressive in the team's four league games as he has averaged almost 20 points a game while leading the team by a wide margin in rebounding, grabbing on average 6.3 per contest, and Magette has averaged a double-double with averages of 15.5 points and 10 assists.
 
The nation's fourth-best 3-point shooter, Jaime Smith has connected on 10 treys in league play to boast a scoring average of 18.8. Overall on the season, Smith has hit 51.1 percent of his attempts from long-range.
 
The Statesmen have struggled on the season as they own a 4-11 overall mark and sit winless in conference play at 0-4. Winless in its last nine, DSU is led in scoring by Terry Leake who averages 13.6 per contest, while Marqueys Brown and Cornell Knight both average 5.7 rebounds per night.
 
UAH has struggled somewhat in the series as Delta State owns a 13-7 mark against the Chargers, but the Blue and White were big winners a season ago as they knocked off the Statesmen by a 102-68 score in Huntsville. The Chargers also won the last time they visited Cleveland, taking a 73-70 decision during the 2009-10 season.
