LIVE STATS
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Returning to play for the first time in the month of October, the University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team will look to avenge a pair of losses from earlier in the season when it hosts Christian Brothers on Friday at 3:30 p.m. before facing off against Delta State at the same time on Sunday.
The Chargers enter the contest at 1-9 (0-6 Gulf South Conference), needing a pair of conference wins to keep themselves in the GSC postseason conversation.
Continuing to lead the way offensively for the Blue and White is the pair of
Ragnar Leosson and
Kyle Simmons. Leosson has scored five times and added a pair of assists for 12 points, while Simmons owns four goals and two assists for 10 points.
In the contest with Christian Brothers in Memphis, the Chargers fell 2-1 with Leosson registering the goal, and UAH travelled to Delta State two days later where the squad fell 2-0 on a rainy pitch.
Christian Brothers enters Friday's game on a three-game unbeaten streak as the Bucs have tied Union 1-1, knocked off Harding 1-0 and pushed past Delta State 3-0 in their last three contests en route to a 5-5-1 (3-2-1 GSC) mark. Jose Ferraz paces the team in scoring, notching a team-best in both goals and assists with six and three, respectively. Notching a 4-5-1 record in goal, Jaime Garcia has seen the majority of minutes as the CBU keeper.
Owning a 5-6-1 (1-3 GSC) record, the Statesmen have gone on quite a slide since beating the Chargers in Huntsville on Sept. 16. Since then, DSU has not won in six games, putting together an 0-6-1 mark during the stretch. With nine goals and an assist, Caue DaSilva leads the Statesmen offensively.
