The Chargers enter the tournament at 39-12 on the season while CBU owns a 14-29 mark.
During the regular season, the second-seeded Chargers took three of the four games with the No. 7 seed Lady Bucs, including a sweep in Huntsville that saw the Blue and White outscore the opposition by a combined 17-1 in the two games.
All-GSC selection
Stephanie Needham joined
Meagan Billingsley in feasting on CBU offensively in the four games as both went 6-for-11 at the plate. Both also drew three walks in the season series, and Billingsley scored three times. Also strong against the Lady Bucs,
Cortney McNett – another one of UAH's eight all-conference honorees – drove in six runs while collecting a pair of doubles and a homer.
Both UAH pitchers were strong as
Whitney Toler gave up just one earned run to Friday's opponents in the two games she threw against them, and
Whitney Gilbert struck out 10 in 13 innings pitched.
The Chargers have an illustrious conference tournament history as they have gone 54-18 in GSC postseason action, winning the title on eight occasions with the last championship coming in 2008.
Friday's contest will mark the first between UAH and Christian Brothers at the tournament.
