UAH Tripped Up By Delta State On The Road

Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team fell in Gulf South Conference play at Delta State on Sunday, dropping a 2-0 contest as the Statesmen improve to 5-1 (2-0 GSC) and the Chargers fall to 0-5 (0-2 GSC).

The Statesmen scored early in quick succession in the first half, notching a goal in the 11th minute and again in the 20th minute to take a 2-0 lead that held up through the rest of the period.

The 2-0 score would end up being the final as both teams battled wet conditions with a steady rain falling on the pitch through much of the second 45 minutes, preventing either team from generating too much in the way of solid chances.

Keeping his team in the contest, senior keeper Kel Markert registered seven stops in the contest as Delta State put nine shots on frame compared to three for the Blue and White.

The Chargers will return home when they host Shorter on Thursday, Sept. 20, when they host Shorter at Charger Park with kick-off scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
