LIVE STATS
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH men's soccer team is set for its 2012 home debut as the Chargers will host Talladega in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. at the new pitch at Charger Park. UAH enters the contest at 0-1, while the Tornadoes own a 4-1 mark on the year.
The Blue and White will be looking to bounce back from the season-opening setback in which the team fell 2-1 at Lincoln Memorial.
In that contest, sophomore
Mitch Wilson assisted on the tally scored by classmate
Kyle Simmons just as the duo did three times a year ago. In the 2011 year, Simmons paced the squad with 13 goals while Wilson tied for the team lead with five assists.
One of the Wilson-to-Simmons goals came in the home opener in which the Chargers blanked Talladega 7-0, and the strike was just one of three that the Huntsville native Simmons would score in his collegiate debut. Wilson also scored in the contest as did
Tyler Cunningham, and both should see significant minutes in Wednesday's affair.
The Tornadoes come into Wednesday's contest with a 4-1 record, outscoring their opposition 19-6 on the young season. Leading the squad in scoring is Jose Luis Rodriguez who owns seven of the team's goals on the season, while Solomon Mensah has scored three times to go along with four assists for 10 points.
