About the Chargers
LIFE ON THE ROAD: The Chargers wrapped up a stretch of playing five of their past six games on the road on Tuesday, falling 4-2 to host Lee. The team went 3-3 during the period, picking up road wins over this weekend's opponents – a 1-0 victory at Delta State and a 3-0 triumph at Christian Brothers. Before conceding the first goal of the contest in the Lee contest, the Chargers had played 287 minutes of shutout soccer, and the team scored in each of the matches during the arduous slate of contests.

CONFERENCE UPDATE: At the halfway point of conference play, the Chargers find themselves in a tie for third among teams that are eligible for postseason play in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida is the clear leader with a 6-1 conference record, and West Alabama is in second with 10 points from a 3-3-1 mark. The Chargers are tied with Sunday's opponent at 3-4 (nine points), while Delta State is 0-5-1 to sit in fifth with one point. The top four teams will earn a trip to Pensacola, Fla., for the 2013 GSC Championships.

NATIONAL LEADERS: The Blue and White placed three of its members in the top 50 of the latest national statistical rankings provided by the NCAA on Monday of this week. Kyle Simmons was ranked in total goals (sixth), goals per game (eighth), total points (16th) and points per game (16th), while Anthony Benitez was 18th in total assists and 29th in assists per game. Mitch Wilson was ranked 40th in the nation in total assists.

 ABOUT DELTA STATE: The Statesmen enter Friday's contest with a 0-8-1 record and a GSC record of 0-5-1. In its last time out, DSU fell to Mississippi College in a two overtime thriller 3-2, and the Statesmen have now lost their previous six contests. However, five of DSU's eight losses have been by one goal. Senior Amine Rahmani, Paul Ochnicki and Bryce Childers all lead the team with two goals. Rahmani and Ochnicki also lead the team with one assist each.

ABOUT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS: CBU owns an even 5-5 record this season and a 3-4 record in GSC play. The Buccaneers are winners of their last two matchups, defeating Delta State 3-1 and Rhodes 4-1. Jose Ferraz and Matt Derise both lead the Buccaneers with seven and five goals, respectively. Ferraz and Derise each have five goals in GSC play, which is the second most in the conference. Freshman Jarrian Cutrer has a team-high four assists on the season, three of which came in their most recent game against Rhodes.
Series History
DELTA STATE: The Chargers own a 10-2 record against the Statesmen in the series. In head coach Matt Watts' first game against his former team earlier this season, Kyle Simmons produced the game's only goal in the 22nd minute to lift the Chargers past the Statesmen 1-0.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS: UAH convincingly defeated the two-time defending GSC champions Christian Brothers earlier this season 3-0 to improve to 14-12-3 overall in the series. Junior midfielder Yuri Ivanov scored his second goal of the season in the 38th minute while Mitch Wilson and Kyle Simmons netted the second and third goals of the game. Freshman Will Carpenter tallied his third shutout of the season in the victory, stopping three shots that came his way.Â
