About the Lady Chargers
BACK IN PENSACOLA: The Lady Chargers are making their third consecutive appearance in the Gulf South Conference Tournament and its eighth overall. The team is 1-7 all-time in the postseason with its first victory coming a year ago in head coach Jimmy Mitchell's first year at the helm. Valdosta State will represent the program's fifth opponent in the tournament as the teams meet for the first time in the event.
Â
LAST YEAR: Niina Jetsu set the tone early for UAH in the quarterfinals as she scored in the second minute on a shot from nearly 30 yards out. West Alabama would eventually tie the game, but Khadijah Jannah scored in overtime to produce a 2-1 victory. Reigning GSC Defender of the Week Iris Gunnarsdottir was strong in the contest as she recorded nine saves.
Â
MOMENTUM GENERATOR: If there is one thing the Lady Chargers should not be lacking on Thursday, it is momentum as the team will look to build off of its thrilling 1-0 double overtime victory over Union on Saturday that propelled the Lady Chargers into the tournament. Melody Dodd notched the game-winner with just under two minutes remaining.
