FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team opened the 2014-15 campaign at fourth-ranked Nova Southeastern, falling 80-40 to the defending NCAA South Region champions. UAH starts the year at 0-1, while NSU begins at 1-0.

The hosts held a 46-13 advantage at the half after outshooting the Chargers from the field by a 55.2 percent to 18.5 percent clip, and though UAH would nearly 39 percent of its attempts in the second half, the team could not climb out of the large halftime deficit.

Danielle Robinson scored 14 to lead Nova.

Continuing her strong play that she exhibited in the preseason,
Halle Jarnagin led the Chargers in the setback as she scored 10 points while also grabbing a team-best five rebounds and also picking up a block along the way.

For the contest, Nova Southeastern connected on 48.1 percent from the field including hitting seven 3-pointers while limiting the Chargers to a shooting mark of 29.3 percent. UAH was 4-for-16 from beyond the arc.

The Sharks – led by Kayla Wright's seven boards – won the battle on the glass, collecting 44 rebounds to UAH's 29.

UAH will look to bounce back from the loss when the team travels down I-95 to Miami Shore to take on Barry. The contest is slated for 3 p.m. CST.
