UAH Falls to Trevecca Nazarene on Monday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell to Trevecca Nazarene by a 61-39 score on Monday evening in the Chargers home opener at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH now sits at 1-2 on the year, while Trevecca Nazarene improves to 1-0.

Junior Halle Jarnagin led the Chargers in scoring with 12 points and on the boards with nine total rebounds. She has now totaled 10 or more points in UAH's first three contests. Jarnagin was also active on the defensive end with a game-high two blocks.

UAH had success in the first half on 3-pointers, going 4-for-13 in the first 20 minutes of play. Chandler Elder, Loren Foster, Josi Saunders and Jarnagin all sank one shot a piece from long range in the first half.

The Chargers trailed by as much as 13 points to the Trojans in the first period, but were able to cut the TNU lead to nine heading into halftime thanks to an 8-4 run in the final three minutes of the half.

Trevecca Nazarene shot well near the basket in the second half, totaling 24 points in the paint. The Trojans shot 44.4 percent from the field in the second half and were able to extend their lead to 44-30 with ten minutes remaining in the period. The Trojans continued their strong play in the closing minutes, recording a 6-0 run in the last seven minutes of the half.

Junior Josi Saunders was 2-for-5 for 3-pointers on the evening finishing the contest with eight points for the Chargers, good for second on the roster.

The Chargers look ahead to Friday when UAH is pitted against visiting Montevallo. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.
