Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 20 UAH Tripped Up By Lee 81-62

CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The 20th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team fell for the second straight conference road game, dropping a 81-62 decision to host Lee on Saturday night. The Chargers slip to 9-3 (4-2 Gulf South Conference), while Lee improves to 9-2 (4-2 GSC).

Taylor Chapman led the Chargers, scoring 14 points as he was the only Charger to score in double figures on the night, and narrowly missing out on a double-double was Preston Herring who scored nine and grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds to record his fifth game in double figures in boards.

Lee led throughout the entire opening half after jumping out to an 8-0 lead to start the period, and the hosts led by as many as 10 in the half. Chapman, however, was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field in the first 20 minutes and hit three 3-pointers to pull the Chargers back within five by the half as the score was 32-27 at the break.

UAH would quickly narrow the gap to two to start the second half, but the Flames shot just under 60 percent in the period to lead by as many as 22 points en route to the victory.

The Chargers shot 40.4 percent from the field for the contest and hit 11 3-pointers, but the Flames matched UAH with 11 triples of their own while featuring an overall shooting mark of 49.2 percent in the game.

Lee also led on the glass, grabbing 38 rebounds to UAH's 31.

Five players scored in double figures for the Flames, and Cory Billingsley scored a game-best 17.

The Chargers now will break for Christmas before returning to the hardwood in 2015 when Mississippi College visits Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 4 p.m.
