About the Chargers

  • Winners of 11 of their last 13 games to own a 19-4 record, the Chargers are set to continue Gulf South Conference play when they travel to Delta State for a three-game set this weekend, and UAH will be looking to improve upon its 3-3 road record. The Chargers sit in second in the GSC standings among teams that are eligible for the postseason with UNA's 12-3 record leading the way.
  • UAH has several players that have been strong at the plate with runners in scoring position as five Chargers are hitting better than .400 in those situations.

  • The UAH pitching staff is one of the best in the GSC, ranking second with a team ERA of 1.91 while opponents hit just .244 off of the Chargers to also rank second in that category. UAH has allowed a league-best 61 runs, and only 43 of those have been earned. The Chargers also have a dramatic lead in fewest walks allowed, giving up just 24 free passes to own 32 less than Valdosta State who places second with 56.
  • The Chargers continue to steal bases at will, already tallying 101 on the season to quickly approach the school record for steals in a season of 127 which was set in 2012. Six players have recorded double figures in steals on the year with Frith leading the way with 23, while Brianna Sullivan and Mary Kelley are both perfect at 14-for-14 and 12-for-12, respectively.

About the Opponent

  • Delta State enters the weekend at 13-16 (6-8 GSC), but the Lady Statesmen are 6-2 at home compared to a road mark of 3-9 and a 4-5 record in neutral site games. The squad has lost four of its last five but split last weekend with Union in a rain-shortened series.
  • The team is batting .293 as a whole, but seven Lady Statesmen are hitting .300 or better with Mariah Alvarez pacing the squad with a .379 average. Kaitlin Moore has used a team-best nine doubles to lead DSU in RBI as she owns 26.
  • Delta State's pitching staff owns a 4.29 ERA on the season as Macie Wilde (4-7, 5.29 ERA) and Taylor Tucker (6-5, 3.69 ERA) lead the team in starts as both have recorded 11. Tucker's 37 strikeouts lead the Lady Statesmen.

Series History

  • The Chargers are 31-11 all-time against Delta State. Last year, UAH won three of the four meetings as the teams split in Cleveland before the Chargers swept DSU in Huntsville.
