About the Chargers

  • UAH will close out the regular season this weekend when West Alabama visits, and the Chargers go into the three-game set having already locked up the top seed at the upcoming GSC Softball Championships, owning a 37-7 (21-6 GSC) record. The Chargers have won 14 of their last 15 games, and the team owns a 15-2 record at home.
  • The weekend series will mark the final regular season home contests for five seniors: Nicole Bobrowski, Macie Couey, Mary Kelley, Mallory McNeal, and Whitney Toler. Kelley and Toler have been in the Rocket City for four years, making four straight NCAA tournaments including a national championship game appearance in their freshman year. McNeal transferred from Mississippi prior to her sophomore season, Bobrowski joined the squad after two years at Samford, and Couey is wrapping up her eligibility after playing three seasons at Georgia.
  • The Chargers will be aiming to establish the Gulf South Conference record for stolen bases in a season this weekend after tying the current mark of 179 a week ago at Union. UAH continues to lead the country with 4.07 steals per game – a number that is more than a whole steal per contest higher than the second-best number in the land.
  • Additionally, the Chargers rank in the top 25 in Division II four other categories: batting average (16th), scoring (21st), on-base percentage (24th), and earned run average (25th). Several Chargers also rank among the nation's top 25 individually as displayed in the table below:
