About the Chargers

  • UAH – the nation's ninth-ranked team – enters the weekend at 25-6 (12-6 GSC). On Friday, the team will put its perfect 13-0 non-conference record on the line at Albany State before turning its attention to a key GSC series at Valdosta State. VSU holds a half-game advantage over the Chargers for the top spot in the league among teams that are eligible for the postseason.
  • The Chargers are the best base-stealing team in the country, averaging right at four steals per contest, and the team has three players in the top 50 in Division II in steals: Victoria Frith (9th), Brianna Sullivan (31st), and Macie Couey (43). The team has already amassed 124 steals to sit just shy of the program record of 127 set by the 2012 club.
  • With 0.34 triples per contest, UAH is also among the best in the nation in that category, and the Chargers also feature the nation's top player in triples as Couey has a total of seven on the season.
  • UAH features three pitchers with sub-2.00 ERAs with reigning GSC Pitcher of the Week Kimberly Jack leading the way with a 1.06 mark. None of the members of the staff own more than two losses with Emily Glover's 7-2 record and 43 strikeouts.

About the Opponent

ALBANY STATE
  • Albany State enters the game at 15-17 with a 7-7 mark at home, but the team is only 2-12 in non-conference play. The team features a pair of batters hitting better than .400 as Malea Moore is hitting .411 and Chelsea Hicks is hitting .410. Alexa Lopez leads the team in the circle with a 2.67 ERA and 50 strikeouts.
VALDOSTA STATE
  • The Blazers enter the weekend at 31-9 (13-6 GSC) and own an impressive 15-2 mark at home with the two losses coming to Shorter on Feb. 15. Since that setback, VSU has won 13 straight at home while scoring an average of 9.9 runs per game in the stretch.
  • Courtney Albritton and Shelby Altman are once again at the top of the Valdosta State offensive ledger, hitting .416 and .390, respectively. Altman leads the team with 46 RBI on the year, while Albritton has a team-best 11 doubles and 18 home runs.
  • With a 14-4 record and 23 appearances, Brianna Hancock leads the VSU pitching staff. She is the owner of a 2.36 ERA, has struck out 118 batters, and opponents are hitting just .206 off of her.
