Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE | Celebrating its second walk-off victory in as many days, the top-seeded UAH softball team defeated Rollins twice on Sunday in the NCAA South 1 Regional to earn its fourth trip in the last six years to the NCAA South Super Regional. The Chargers won a pair of one-run games at Charger Park, winning 6-5 in game one and 5-4 in eight innings in game two to remain alive in the postseason.
 
UAH (47-10) came through in the clutch once again, winning the second game of the day after entering the seventh and final inning trailing by two runs at 4-2 and its season hanging in the balance. Five out of the seven batters in the bottom of the seventh inning reached base for the Chargers, including five hits and a sacrifice fly.
 
Tyler Harrison would be the heroine in the bottom of the eighth for the Chargers, as the GSC Freshman of the Year singled right up the middle to bring senior Mary Kelley racing home to send the UAH fans and players into a frenzy. Kelley started the inning with a single and was moved to second by Macie Couey's sacrifice bunt.
 
"Wow – that's the only word I've got for it," said head coach Les Stuedeman following the contest. "I've been saying it all year. So much fight, so much hustle, so much heart."
 
Kimberly Jack picked up the win throwing 4.0 innings in relief. Whitney Toler started the game and also went 4.0 innings, allowing a pair of earned runs.
 
Victoria Frith went 3-for-4 in the game with a significant RBI – the game-tying RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs. Haley Thompson tallied the other RBI in the seventh, as the second basemen scored Emily Glover on the sac fly. The Chargers nearly ended the game in the frame as Macie Couey singled up the middle, but a strong throw from the Rollins centerfielder beat Mallory McNeal – who had a key single earlier in the frame to load the bases – by a step to force the extra inning.
 
Rollins started the top half of the eighth off with a double, but the next batter was robbed of a base hit by Couey in left field as she made a terrific play to make the catch and then threw to second to double the runner off the bag there to squash the threat.
 
The Chargers won game one earlier in the day by a final of 6-5 as Toler picked up the win and Jack was credited with the save. UAH jumped out to a 6-0 lead before letting Rollins slowly back into the game to force a dramatic out in the seventh to win the game.
 
Four players notched a pair of hits in the game, as Couey, Kelley, Glover and Brianna Sullivan each recorded two hits. UAH finished with a total of 10 hits in the game, while Rollins finished with seven.
 
UAH will now welcome GSC-rival Valdosta State to Huntsville for the best-of-three NCAA South Super Regional this upcoming weekend.
