FLORENCE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell to North Alabama on Saturday afternoon in three sets (17-25, 18-25, 13-25) at Florence Hall in a Gulf South Conference matchup.
North Alabama (6-4, 4-2 GSC) played UAH (5-4, 3-2 GSC) well from the outset of the contest on Saturday. The Lions had a lead early and continued to capitalize, scoring eight points over nine volleys in the first set to lead 15-5. UAH fought back late to bring the score within seven, but UNA was able to finish off the first set win, 25-17.
After going down 7-2 early in the second set, the Chargers bounced back to make the majority of the frame competitive. UAH trailed by as little as five late in the set at a 23-18 score, thanks to strong offense from freshman
Anna Claire Johnson with four kills and sophomore
Rachel Brugman with three kills. However, UNA went on to win the stanza on a three-point rally.
The Lions finalized the three-set victory in the third frame despite the Chargers leading early.

Kendall Knisley and Johnson had early kills leading UAH to an 8-5 advantage. UNA then started pulling away on six-point, four-point and five-point rallies consecutively.
Johnson led the offense with eight kills on Saturday, with Brugman earning the highest hitting percentage at .545. Freshman
Kirsten Giles notched 15 assists, her fourth straight game of 10 assists or more. Junior
Kennedie Lariscy had a team-high 11 digs.
The Chargers will look ahead to a GSC matchup at Shorter on Tuesday. First serve set for 6 p.m.
