VALDOSTA, Ga. | Valdosta State's Josh Lemmons scored with just under 20 seconds left in the game, allowing Valdosta State to defeat the University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team 67-66 on Thursday night. The Chargers slip to 13-5 (8-4 Gulf South Conference), while VSU moves to 9-9 (4-8 GSC).

UAH led for nearly 37 minutes of the game as Valdosta State did not go in front until the 2:24 mark of the second half, and the team's traded baskets in the final moments with
Seab Webster and
Preston Herring both having answers that put UAH back ahead before the Lemmons basket.

Herring and Webster both led the Chargers, scoring 17 and 16, respectively.

The Chargers shot an impressive 61.9 percent in the first half and built up as much as an 11-point advantage in the period, but 13 giveaways allowed the visitors to stay in the contest with UAH leading just 33-30 at the halftime break.

UAH limited its turnovers to just four in the second half, but VSU outshot the Chargers by a 60.0 percent to 53.8 percent in the margin in the period on its way to the win.

For the contest, UAH shot 57.4 percent, while the Blazers – who were led by James Spencer's 19 – connected on 50.0 percent from the floor.

Valdosta State outrebounded the Chargers 31-23, and the Blazers collected 12 offensive rebounds and used them to outscore UAH 14-2 in second-chance points.

The Chargers will stay on the road for their next contest, travelling to the Sunshine State to face West Florida. The tip in Pensacola is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
